Physicians, Parents Sue Becerra to Stop Covid Vaccines for Children

A physician activist group is seeking a temporary restraining order against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Secretary Xavier Becerra for expanding the emergency use authorization of the COVID-19 vaccines to children under the age of 16.

“Children are not guinea pigs,” states Simone Gold, M.D., J.D. and founder of America’s Frontline Doctors (AFLDS), the organization that has filed the suit. “There is statistically zero percent chance of young people dying of COVID-19.  To promote an investigational product that has no long-term studies and no animal studies, to pressure parents and teens to use an experimental product that has not been fully approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) breaks all the rules of medicine and the HHS’ (U.S. Health and Human Services) own goal to protect Americans.”

The motion, filed May 19 in the U.S District Court for the Northern District of Alabama, lists eight parents and two physicians as co-plaintiffs. AFDLS says it is the first suit filed against HHS for the EUA for children. The FDA declared on May 10 that the Pfizer vaccine is safe for teens 12 to 15 years of age on a trial of 2,000 volunteers. The EUA gives schools and programs serving children, like summer camps, more authority to demand vaccines for participation.

“Now it’s time to get your shot,” President Biden stated on May 17. “We have the vaccine. We’ve secured enough supply to vaccinate all adults and children above the age of 12.”

According to the CDC, 404,756 children between the ages of 12 and 18 have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 as of May 20.
